Pennsylvania Senate Bill 1332 (Printer's No. 1740), the proposed Artificial Intelligence in Political Advertisements Act, has not been enacted. It was referred to the State Government Committee on May 21, 2026. If enacted, it would require a political advertisement that contains footage or audio generated in whole or in part with artificial intelligence to include a clear and conspicuous statement saying so (Section 3). For print ads or ads with text or graphics, the statement must be easy to see and read and must include the date, time and origin of the content. For audio-visual ads or audio-only ads, the statement must be broadcast at the beginning as an audio tagline that is easily heard, also including the date, time and origin. Section 2 defines key terms, including "artificial intelligence," "generative artificial intelligence," "political advertisement," "synthetic content" and "audio-visual advertisement." Audio-visual ads include robocalls and text messages. Under Section 4, a person adversely affected by an ad lacking the required disclosure may sue for declaratory or injunctive relief and actual damages. The Attorney General, a district attorney or an affected person may bring a civil action. A court may award a civil fine of up to $3,000, actual attorney fees and court costs, and other legal and equitable relief. Under Section 5, the act would not apply to ads printed, broadcast, manufactured or produced before the effective date of that section. Under Section 6, it would take effect 30 days after enactment.
