House Study Committee on Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence; create
House Resolution 1788 has been introduced in the Georgia House but has not been adopted. If adopted, it would create the House Study Committee on Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (paragraph 1). The Speaker would appoint five House members and name one as chairperson (paragraph 2). The committee would study the risks of AI systems that give advice or information to minors. It would also study state agency use of AI in decisions affecting residents, standards for transparency and human review in AI-assisted decision-making, and opportunities for AI to improve government efficiency and service delivery. Other topics are AI's role in economic development, workforce readiness and innovation, and possible legislative or regulatory approaches to promote responsible AI use (paragraph 3, items A–F). The chairperson would call the meetings (paragraph 4). Members would receive the allowances under Code Section 28-1-8, limited to five days unless more are authorized, paid from House appropriations (paragraph 5). A report, or meeting minutes if no report is approved, would be filed with the Clerk of the House. A report requires approval by majority vote of a quorum (paragraph 6). The committee would be abolished on December 1, 2026 (paragraph 7).
