We track what is actually happening with AI: the laws being passed, the research being published, and how AI models do on real work. Every item links to its source and carries a date. Everything on the site is free to use.

What’s here
AI bills and laws
620 state and federal AI bills across 47 states and DC, 105 of them now law. Each has a plain-English summary written from its text, where it stands (law, dead or still moving) and a link to the official record. Browse by state on the map or by topic.Research and news
8,367 research papers and 360 news items. Each is about AI’s measurable effects on work, business, health, education, elections and more, with a short summary and a link to the original.Assurance
Results from independent AI tests in one place. For each task, see which models do relatively well, where they fail and what improves accuracy. Every result names its tester.Stories
How AI policy actually moves, traced step by step. Each step is dated and linked to its primary source.Pulse
Weekly counts of what this tracker collected. It shows what we gathered, not a survey of opinion.Weekly digest
Every Monday, the week’s new AI bills, research and news, each with its source. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
For AI agents and developers
- Free: an MCP endpoint at
/api/mcpand an llms.txt, so your AI agent can query the Assurance results directly. - By invitation: the policy API, free for a small group of design partners while we evaluate it. It answers what each state’s AI laws require, requirement by requirement, and who each law affects: industry, job function and profession, who carries the duty, the kind of duty and how it is enforced. Every answer cites the sections behind it.
- Docs, the full lists of requirements and tags, and examples are on GitHub, where you can also ask for access: AI-Frontier-institute/policy-api.
How we work
- Sourced. Every item links to where it came from.
- Honest about gaps. When we haven’t found something, we say so. We never show a gap as a zero.
- Clear about who checked what. AI models write the summaries and tags. Pages say when an item was checked by a model and not by a person.
- Not legal advice. Always check the official text.
