Illinois House Joint Resolution HJ0050 directs the Professional Review Panel (PRP) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to jointly analyze and conduct financial modeling on the current, likely, and potential impacts of artificial intelligence and related technologies on the cost factors within the state's Evidence-Based Funding Formula. The resolution acknowledges that generative AI has already significantly affected schools and could further transform teaching, learning, and district operations. It also notes that ISBE is expected to release AI guidance for schools by July 1, 2026. The PRP and ISBE are required to submit a written report of their findings to the General Assembly and the Governor by December 31, 2027.
