FRAUD-ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Illinois SB1792, introduced February 5, 2025 by Sen. Laura Ellman, amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act (815 ILCS 505) by adding new Section 2HHHH. The bill requires any owner, licensee, or operator of a generative artificial intelligence system to conspicuously display a warning on the system's user interface that is reasonably calculated to consistently inform users that the system's outputs may be inaccurate or inappropriate. The bill defines 'generative artificial intelligence' as an automated computing system that, when given human prompts or queries, produces outputs simulating human-created content—including text, images, multimedia, and other content. A 'generative artificial intelligence system' is defined as any AI system whose primary function is to generate content such as code, text, or images. Failure to display the required warning constitutes an unlawful practice under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.
