SPORTS WAGERING-AI RESTRICTION
Illinois SB2398, introduced February 7, 2025 by Sen. Bill Cunningham, amends the Sports Wagering Act by adding Section 25-63 (230 ILCS 45/25-63). The bill prohibits sports wagering licensees from using artificial intelligence to: (1) track the sports wagers of an individual; (2) create offers or promotions targeting a specific individual; or (3) create gambling products, such as microbets. The bill defines a 'microbet' as a wager placed on an outcome or occurrence within a sporting event that may or may not be related to the ultimate result of the sporting event. The restrictions are aimed at limiting AI-driven personalization and product creation in the sports betting industry.
