Updates the definition of cyberbullying in the dignity for all students act to include intentionally using artificial intelligence to mimic or alter a person's likeness or voice without their consent.
This New York Senate bill (S.10049, introduced by Sen. Jackson) has passed the Senate and been delivered to the Assembly, where it was referred to the education committee. It has not been enacted. If enacted, it would amend subdivision 8 of section 11 of the education law, the definition of "cyberbullying" in the Dignity for All Students Act. Cyberbullying would still mean harassment or bullying as defined in subdivision seven of that section, including paragraphs (a), (b), (c) and (d), when it occurs through any form of electronic communication. The bill would add that cyberbullying includes, but is not limited to, intentionally using artificial intelligence to mimic or alter a person's likeness or voice without their consent. Under section 2, the act would take effect immediately.
